We have been trying to decide if we should try and fit a small ensuite into our bedroom. just a shower and handbasin. we have drawn it out and I think it takes up too much room and wont leave a lot of room for wardrobes. While on holiday last week my husband suggested we could maybe put a nice walk in shower and small hand basin in the bedroom without actually builing a room around it iyswim. Its a 1920's house and he pointed out that in a lot of old houses there would have been a handbasin in the bedroom. I cant get my head round it tbh. What are your thoughts ?

Can I see the pictures of what you did to resolve this ?

There is a shower in one of the bedrooms of my rented property and I never use it. The basin is actually in the shower cubicle. Every time I look at it I think how much more useful it would be as a storage cupboard!

Either built a proper en-suite or don't. A shower in the bedroom is bloody weird, offers no privacy and will end up making your room damp and mouldy I would imagine.
Surely a toilet and basin enclosed in a room would be more useful than the shower?

I stayed in a b and b like that many years ago. Instant steamy bedroom. Don't do it. Just because dickish fashion types have a bath in the bedroom ( by an uncurtained window!) Does not mean it is sensible!

We went to see a house with a shower, just a shower in the bedroom. So it was lime a regar shower with shower screen, shower tray 'in the wall' which ate into the batbroom behind. As you step out of the shower you're in the bedroom. It put us off putting an offer (damp, condensation, leaks). Not much help but just a thought if wanting to resell (although I know some people wouldnt mind)
