I've been to craig tara wouldn't really reccomend it site ok but you definitly need a car to get around as not much local.

As I live in a different part of Scotland to mumofDJ, I'll probably go for:

  1. Tummel
  2. Craig Tara
  3. Sundrum Castle
4 & 5 parks 182 & 183 as they are not far from Edinburgh

Wemyss is just across the Clyde really, although could stop off in the big Tesco for supplies, lol.

mumofdjandbabies · 07/01/2009 17:58

thanks guys

is the 5.50 service charge per person non negotiable even if you take your own sheets?

2adults 3 kids under 5 , 5.50 each per day?

The service charge must inc the gas and electricity as well then? The cheapest caravan at Tummel says you get all that inc bed linen free. You pay the extras about 2 months before your stay with the Sun offer I think.

Fimbo · 07/01/2009 18:32

It might be cheaper just to use the websites - look

Fimbo · 07/01/2009 18:33

Arggh silly link but it was coming up for 4 nights end of April sleeping 4/6 for £88

BexieID · 07/01/2009 18:34

For the last weekend of April (my b/day ) it's £112.34 for the basic. With the Sun it would be £38 + (£16.50x3) £49.50 = £87.50, so £25 cheaper through the Sun.

Krissy, you might be better off doing it direct.

BexieID · 07/01/2009 18:35

That was at Tummel btw.

BexieID · 07/01/2009 18:36

Won't need bedding for Tom as we'll be taking the travel cot.

mumofdjandbabies · 07/01/2009 19:17

hmm tricky one as my three guys I dont want to have to pay £16.50 a day for linen

a day ? surely not???

Hang on, it's per unit per night, not person . Sorry, that was me not reading it properly and mis-quoting on the other thread!

My vote is for Grannie's Heilan Hame in Embo.
It is set in beautiful scenery, very family friendly and in a great location to explore lots of great places. It's also right on a beautiful sandy beach - miles of dunes and no rocks/stones/broken glass. It's smaller and quieter than a lot of the others (depends on what you prefer really)
(do I sound like i'm on commission?)

mumofdjandbabies · 07/01/2009 19:51

ha ha you work there come on own up

OP posts:
sasamaxx · 07/01/2009 19:55

LOL - my secret's out!
(only kidding )
Mind you, I've just noticed someone else found it noisy. Maybe it depends when you go...

BexieID · 07/01/2009 20:36

Krissy, that October week on the Sun offer would be cheaper. Sun would be £78, inc insurance and booking direct at Nairn would be £174, with no insurance. £147.57 at Grannies and £165.19 for Tummel. Those are for the no smoking caravans.

BexieID · 07/01/2009 20:38

Krissy, the school holidays are over £400!

BexieID · 07/01/2009 21:06

I want to go to Tummel to see the salmon ladder!

The Pitlochry Salmon ladder: a specially constructed ladder necessary to allow Salmon to reach the man-made Loch Faskally while by-passing the Pitlochry Dam. The salmon don't actually jump up the ladder but swim through interconnecting pipes. There is an observation chamber so you can watch the salmon underwater through a large plate glass window.

sasamaxx · 07/01/2009 21:08

Cool - I stayed in Faskally house when I was about 15 for a school thing...

sasamaxx · 07/01/2009 21:08

not sure why I jut shared that
