If I could be bothered I would take it back and then get DH to buy it again next day

QOD · 03/11/2008 17:05

snap

bracingair · 03/11/2008 17:10

I would have bought my size and returned the old one but they had none left in my size...so itts a bit of a risk returning it!

Take it back and re-buy, obviously.

bracingair · 03/11/2008 17:19

Don't be so British, go bag yourself a bargain.

differentGuyD · 03/11/2008 19:22

bekkaboo · 03/11/2008 21:27

shhhh · 03/11/2008 21:28

I woulkd take it back and buy it again straight away .

DoubleBluff · 03/11/2008 21:31

do what bekka bo says

hifi · 03/11/2008 21:55

some stores wouldnt let you buy it back straight away. theres some law that allows them to keep it off the shop floor for a certain time. i tried this at m and s once, they wouldnt let me, so i bought the reduced item and returned the full priced item the day after. if they dont have the same size then youre stuffed im afraid.

bracingair · 03/11/2008 22:21

M&S dont, sometimetime they have scanned things in and they have come up as £1! I would buy anything for a £1

The store is Fenwciks, and its due back on Wed. Usually I wouldn't bother, but I have been dithering about keeping it as i dont think its worth £45. At £25 i would def keep it!

OP posts:
hifi · 03/11/2008 22:48

can you check if they have your size at another fenwicks?

BexieID · 04/11/2008 13:01

I took some jeans back to Debenhams that I did actually wear to a kids party, but they were the type of jeans that had buttons so they could be cropped. Buttons were only one side and they rolled down! I did notice that they were half price but resisted buying them again.

IMO it's kind of 'tough titty' or 'sods law' if things are reduced after you've bought them. I suppose if I could really be ar$ed then I probably would take something back.

Ohforfoxsake · 04/11/2008 13:03

I took a pair of faulty trousers back to Gap, they gave me a full refund, and put them on for sale for a tenner, so I bought them there and then.

I'd would most definately do it.

dexter73 · 04/11/2008 14:39

I bought a top full price in Fat Face and the next week it was half price. I had worn the top so I bought another one at half price and then returned it on the full price receipt saving myself £20.

Flamesparrow · 04/11/2008 14:49

Yup, I would buy the right size first then return the other

I'm sure when I have tried to return something that was now in the sale, I have been told that they can only refund me the sale price. Is that right?

nancy75 · 05/11/2008 13:45

if you dont have a reciept they only refund you the current selling price

NellieTheEllie · 05/11/2008 18:00

ahhh, that makes sense. Thanks Nancy.

FourArms · 06/11/2008 13:53

I always do this at Christmas on DVD's etc. I keep all the receipts together, and then if anything is reduced, I buy the reduced version, and return the next day with the original receipt. Have no guilt as I hate the way they do this in the first place!
