uhm. monopolist mafias, taking governments by the balls, outrageous profits, fucking telling me to wear 2 jumpers at home this winter........

LilRedWG · 01/08/2008 11:25

We changed to them the other day too - capped until August 2009.

SunshineSmith · 01/08/2008 11:27

sorry i am a thicko sometimes - capped? wos that?

WideWebWitch · 01/08/2008 11:29

Def get smug points for that
we are npower for both and so far it's cheapest.

hopelesshousewife · 01/08/2008 11:58

We changed to Scottish Power capped rate on Sunday too via Uswitch, but we have to wait up to six weeks for acknowlegement from SP -

Can someone tell me if it's definitely switched as soon as you apply with Uswitch or may I be stuck with my old ones - can they still turn you down..... (DH's voice of doom on my smugness)

SirDigbyChickenCaesar · 01/08/2008 11:59

we capped on sunday.
bloody power companies

kaz33 · 01/08/2008 12:01

We capped last night to EON - lets hope it goes through.

filthymindedvixen · 01/08/2008 12:02

I went on the switch site recommended by mse and we didn't cap because it turned out we were already paying less with brit gas than we would be for the capped amount. Hazven't dared look/work it out what the 35 per centr increase is going to make it...

Sonnet · 01/08/2008 12:09

Don't have gas only oil - no capping that!!
But smug emoticon to as DH capped our electricity at least 3 months ago and accoring to my Mum and Dad we are Quids in compared to what they are being charged

LilRedWG · 01/08/2008 13:04

My understanding is that once you sign up to cap at a certain rate they have to stick by it, even if their prices change before you actually transfer. At least, I hope that is the case....

Tinker · 01/08/2008 16:36

I'd have to pay 30% more to cap according to e-on. Why is The Answer ever straightforward?

hopelesshousewife · 01/08/2008 18:14

Thanks LilRegWG - hopefully it will come through - we got a £40 box of wine too (if you do it through the moneysavingexpert.com site)

Filthymindedvixen, our cap is also a bit more than we pay now, but it won't go up until August 09, so I'm counting on saving in the future. If you want to switch out it's only £10/£20 to opt back out.

bubblerock · 01/08/2008 18:23

Be doubly smug if you're changing to Scottish Powers capped rate and go through QUIDCO - £36 cashback on Electric or Gas £72 on Electric & Gas combined

constancereader · 01/08/2008 18:33

This whole thing is making me feel almost good about moving into a house with no central heating other than a coal fired aga can provide.

almost
