My del is due between 5-7pm, they have JUST called to say they have people off sick and that they can only deliver between 8-10pm tonight.

I NEED my shopping so I have no choice, what compensation should I ask for?

yes

sainsburys will give you a £10 voucher if they are 5mins after the the delivery slot so tescos should def compensate you and more for the late late time

i mean you could end up missing big brother !!!

cardy · 27/06/2008 16:12

Absolutely. I'd ask for more. I got £15 from Sainsbury's because, not only were they late there were about 5 key items were not avaible and they didn't bring any alternatives.

MummyDoIt · 27/06/2008 16:14

It is only a couple of hours and you'll still get your shopping on the day you requested. I think a refund of the delivery charge would be enough. Unless you needed the order for something with a time deadline, such as a dinner party tonight, in which case a little more.

MingMingtheWonderPet · 27/06/2008 16:21

Sainsburys give yuo a £10.00 voucher if they are 5 mins outside their dlivery slot.

Tesco are tight though! They canceleed a frined's order and they wouldn't give her anything!

Ocado gave me a £30.00 voucher for cancelling a deilvery once Made the next week's shopping a reasonable price.

Seems as if compensation goes in order or supermarket

TwoToTango · 27/06/2008 16:22

Similar think happened to me when they rang to say the delivery van with my delivery on it had broken down and I would have to wait until they had another van who could collect the deliveries. I said they I needed stuff, had had to wait in etc. but they said that basically if "events beyond their control" like this happen then they don't have to deliver on the same day at all so I should think myself lucky. they gave me a choice of either having the delivery when they could get to me or rearranging for another day. In their T&C it does state

"Whilst we make every effort to deliver all your goods in the agreed time, we will not be liable if we fail to do so in part or in full due to circumstances beyond our control."

Might be worth a call, you might get your delivery charge refunded (if you are one of the few who are unlucky enough to pay for delivery )

I find ASDA much more forthcoming with compensation for things going wrong than Tesco.

cardy · 27/06/2008 17:05

Just make sure that you tell them that you'll be using Sainsburys/Ocado next time

cardy · 27/06/2008 17:06

I once had £10 plus a free bottle of (decent) wine from Ocado, so I think you're right TTT.

mumma2cjh · 27/06/2008 21:58

delivery has STILL not turned up. Driver ha called and said the slots/deliveries he was given are non achievable.

He should be here in around 20mins - not his fault but Im going to call Cust services and give them what for!!!

Although not having a dinner party food was to cook an evening meal we had to have a take a way costing £17!!

Did you ring them - any joy with compo?

marmalady · 30/06/2008 14:51

Tesco rang me on sat to change my delivery from evening to afternoon. It did not arrive til evening. half of it was missing. The rest was covered in garlic oil (split pack of chicken) There was no receipt to check what was / wasn't there and it all arrived loose. i'm all for the environment but this was a BIG shop and i requested bags. We have rung customer services about 8 times now and no-one has got back to us but we have been charged. They cannot tell us how much we have been charged for.

Think I will no longer shop online....

Sorry for the hijack but does anyone have any ideas on what sort of compensation I should be offered?

mumma2cjh · 30/06/2008 18:31

sent an email first thing Sat evening still no reply - have chased iwth another email. Will give it one more day then get an email for HO and take it from there!

they don't answer email complaints - I know from experience

cece · 04/07/2008 13:01

Phone them up - they are always really good when I have phoned. think they must be based soemwhere in Scotland

AnAngelWithin · 04/07/2008 13:09

ring them.

my order arrived late from tescos once and i rang them, all pregnant and hormonal, and they apologised and the driver turned up with a massive bunch of tescos finest flowers and a gift card with £10 on it. It was still at 11pm though so I still wasn't happy as it was suppose to be here between 7 and 9!!

MummyAnnabella · 04/07/2008 13:38

call tescos and demand minimum £10 comp as that is ehat sainsburys pay without you even having to ask. also ask for your expenses of £17. tell them you will switch to sainsburys if not then do if need be. we need to stand up to tescos more!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/07/2008 13:44

Sainsbury's once phoned me 20 mins before my delivery was due to say that they couldn't deliver for another 4 days. They offered nothing as compensation. I told them not to bother bringing the order as I'd have to go out and shop before then, and I haven't used them since.

AnAngelWithin · 08/07/2008 16:14

did you have any luck??
