What's the paint for? Wilkinsons is often cheaper than the DIY places, even for brands like Dulux, etc. Also for stuff like filler, white spirit and so on. I've even used their own brand paint in the past - quality is probably not as good though.

Otherwise I tend to wait for 10% off days at Homebase - they were doing 25% of Dulux colour mixing the last time.

Have you finally moved house then?

Tortington · 13/06/2008 14:44

moving house the hous belongs to a housing association - i work for a housing association and so even though its not the same housing association - collegues chat etcetc and i want to leave housein decent state.

so yes - am painting the house i am moving out of

i would rather splash out on one coat than do something 2 or 3 times. know what i mean?

thanks anyway - will look in wilkies and see what they have

So painting the walls and woodwork?

Homebase white satin/gloss for woodwork is fine and cheaper than other brands.

You often see huge tins of good brands (like Dulux) of standard white emulsion on sale in Homebase and Wilkinsons - probably the cheapest you are going to get for the walls.

Though if your walls are already coloured one coat of white might not be enough...

Wickes is cheap too and their own-brand stuff is good.

Are you really going to paint the whole house before you move?

yes - its grubby. the walls are white mostly so mayyyyyyyyyyybe icould get away with cheapo stuff.-

thanks
