I finally bit the bullet and signed back up to a Riverford weekly veg box and I’m really glad I did.
I’d had one years ago, switched to a local veg box, then realised that half the year it was basically Riverford produce anyway 🙃

What really tipped me over was noticing that even supermarket lemons and oranges (non-organic) are treated with stuff like Imazalil and other additives. That was my “right, enough” moment.

We got all our Christmas veg and fruit from Riverford and it was so good - everything actually tasted like it should. The carrots were so sweet and flavourful!

I’ve used Riverford for years and years. One thing: I noticed on another thread that people seemed reluctant to sign up to any veg box delivery because of some long ago experience or rumour of being tied in to weeks of some vegetable they despise. It’s not like that now! You can order from a range of boxes with pre-selected contents if that suits you, but I almost never do - I just pick whatever I want as if I’m shopping on the Ocado app.

Also worth knowing that you’re not locked in to any sort of obligation - you absolutely do not have to order every week.

(I’m aware that there are threads full of the 8p veg being sold in supermarkets before Christmas. An organic veg box delivery obviously isn’t the same in terms of cost. But you discover the benefits for yourself if you try it.)

I am pretty sure you can order a one-off box, or repeat weekly or fortnightly if you want, and you can either choose a pre-selected box or just pick items individually like a normal online shop.

I know there’s been a lot of discussion recently about very cheap supermarket veg, which is genuinely lovely to see.
An organic veg box obviously isn’t the same price point, and supermarket organic is usually cheaper....I’ve tried both.
For me, though, the taste and quality have been noticeably different.

Totally appreciate it’s not for everyone, but if anyone’s been put off by old stories about being locked into boxes of veg they hate, that side of things has really changed.
