Help a tired woman out - cashback sites

Can someone please explain cashback sites and app using really simple language?

People keep mentioning quidco and jam doughnuts but how do they work?

Someone mentioned they were getting money back from Tesco purchases using one website, but then does that mean you don't get the clubcard points? I have so many questions and doing searches online seems to send me into a spiral of sponsored posts which I'm never sure I trust much to be unbiased.

Thanks in advance !

I check TopCashback and Quidco before I make any online purchases - examples being from asos, home and car insurance, Expedia if booking a holiday. Over the last few years I’ve made almost £2000 on purchases I would be making anyway. You check before buying to see if there is cashback offered then use the link on that page to click through and make the purchase as normal. Can take a few months for cashback to be paid but usually always comes through. The general rule is don’t make the purchase relying on the cashback but if you’re going to be buying something anyway there is nothing to lose.
I have referral codes for both TopCashback and Quidco if you’re interested. The photo gives an idea of where I earn my cashback. I’ve never used Jam Doughnut but I imagine it’s the same idea.

Hi OP, I joined Jam Doughnut a couple of weeks ago on the advice of someone on here. I was very wary of it as I'd never used a cashback app before. It's really surprisingly simple and I've just used it for my Tesco shopping so far.

You just find the shop you want on the app, checking carefully whether they offer online or instore, and buy a giftcard for the amount you plan to spend. The Tesco ones only work in the store. The giftcard is a proper Tesco one and comes through immediately. This purchase will give you money in your cashpot as a percentage of your giftcard spend, the percentage offered is shown for each shop. When you get to the checkout, you scan your Clubcard first to get your Clubcard points same as usual, then scan the giftcard to pay. If you've bought a giftcard for say £50 and your shopping comes to £48, the £2 remains on the giftcard for another time. Also, if your shopping exceeds £50 in this example, say it comes to £58, you pay the extra £8 on your normal debit/credit card. Once you get to £10 or more in your cashpot, you can 'cashout' and have the money straight into your bank account although there is a 30p admin charge for this. The other option is to cashout and have another giftcard of your choice. I haven't tried cashing out yet as I'm only at £7 so far which I'm very pleased with after just a couple of weeks!

If you do wish to go ahead there is a bonus £15 for Quidco if you use my link to sign up once you’ve earned your first £5.

and a bonus £10 once you’ve earned £10 from TopCashback using my referral link here provided you sign up by 31st October before 10am

if you have any other questions please feel free to ask. Both sites quite often run bonus cashback too. Definitely worth signing up for the purchases you’d be making online anyway.

I honestly use it for almost every purchase I make or at least check if it’s offered. Even if it’s a few % it still adds up over time and with the referral bonus’ once you’ve earned cashback that’s a win! Sometimes there are offers you can find where you earn more cashback than the item you’ve even paid for but it’s never guaranteed so always only do it for an item you’d be buying anyway. Just need to make sure you click through then buy it without opening another web page etc so that it tracks the purchase properly.

@Amandafm So I joined up, found a deal on a tesco online order, clicked on the link in quidco (earn £7.50 if you spend £40), signed up to tesco as a new customer, spent the required £40 or more, have received my click and collect order on Saturday, logged into quidco today and have no earnings.

I have no idea what I've done wrong. It said 'redirecting you to tesco, complete your order and we'll do the rest' or something like that. Maybe I was meant to also put a code in :S

Check to see if it is showing as tracked in your account. It can take weeks/months for cashback to be paid which is what puts some people off but generally it does always appear. Sometimes if it doesn’t show as tracked you need to raise a claim which can take a while but again is generally always paid provided you’ve fulfilled the terms and conditions. If you check your account to see if it’s showing as tracked and let me know. Thanks

Hello, it wasn't showing as tracked so have started the process of raising a claim :)

This is the sort of thing I was expecting to happen tbh. People quote these sites all the time as an easy way to earn some cash and the first time I attempt it something goes wrong 😅 am useless at this stuff!!

when you started raising the claim did it show you that the transaction was listed as you having clicked through? Oh and don’t worry as you haven’t done anything wrong I’m sure - I’ve had to raise quite a few claims with Quidco and been successful almost every time! Let me know how you get on although it will take months 🤦🏼‍♀️ Don’t let it put you off using topcashback to though (with my link if possible) as I’ve definitely had less claims through them!

Amandafm · 13/11/2024 14:03

Just to show you that it is worth it this is my Quidco earnings over the past few years.
