How I’ve spent hardly anything on food this past month

I’m trying to keep my food bill to an absolute minimum after I was made redundant in the hope that I can get by without having to work again (DH is retired). I’m pleased with what I’ve found and hope it helps someone.

I joined my local food pantry. This has been fab, go once a week and pay £5 for 16 items that are probably worth £30-£40. This is helping to build some stores and they seem to have a lot of outlets.

i joined Gousto using a code for 70% off. 16 meals were about about £17 and were quite luxurious! I was able to freeze any excess too.

I signed up to TooGoodToGo and managed to get an Aldi box for about £3. It was absolutely brilliant, loads of meat and fish and not just crap sweets/bread. These are hard to get but I check each day and I’m collecting an M&S one today so will update about that one.

I signed up to Green Chef for 3 free meals just paying £4.99 postage. Some really nice meals though they specialise in keto so did need bulking a bit but was nice to have duck and steak!

I’ve joined olio, no luck yet but it looks promising.

next week I will try and get a Lidl or one of the new Sainsbury’s vegetables boxes £1.50/2, has anyone had any luck with these?

Im obviously quite well stocked at the moment but hoping to future proof as much as possible.

Appreciate any more tips and trick you may have.

Sorry to hear about your redundancy. You sound very thrifty so I'm sure you'll be ok!
I've signed up for Gousto with your link so hopefully you'll benefit too 💐

@Flamingle18 Thanks! It does help, sorry I should have mentioned that. Hope you like it :)

I've also just ordered my first box. Thank you for the discount. Hopefully you'll get your £20 too.

Hi OP

We don't allow promo codes on the main talk boards, so we're sending this over to the right topic now.
