Have never been to CentreParcs but desperate for a holiday, do you think they would be a reasonable bet for someone in a wheelchair?

Misdee · 04/01/2008 09:28

tribpot, the one in norfolk is apparently very suitbalwe for wheelchair users and they have accessable accomadation. we looked into going there when peter was on the LVAD and had limited mobility.

lisad123 · 04/01/2008 09:58

all of the lodges are one level unless they say otherwise.

Thanks both - dh uses the wheelchair out of the house (he has some mobility) so it's more the activity areas than the accommodation I was thinking of. Norfolk's a bit of a hike for us compared to Sherwood Forest...

LIZS · 04/01/2008 10:17

Had a look at our half term (which is a week earlier than many) yesterday - cheapest midweek price for 2 bed was still over £700

RunningGirl · 04/01/2008 10:18

Cparcs is totally set up for buggies so would imagine (sorry if I'm being ignorant here) that that would mostly translate to wheelchair access too. Why don't you give them a ring and ask about it. We went to Longleat which is pretty hilly so I guess not great from that point of view but when I booked she told me the Sherwood one was much flatter.

JudgeNutmeg · 04/01/2008 10:25

Can you tell me at what stage the discount shows up on the booking pages? I've tried a variety of dates and no discount shows up.

ToomanynewyearsROSElutions · 04/01/2008 10:30

Hi there, whinfell is great for anyone using wheelchair/prams etc, they have specific lodges closer to centre with ramps and are internallt adpated. we took dd when she was under 2 yrs and go every year.
if you want to go on a weekend put CPWEB if you want a mid week break put CPMWB..mid weeks are always cheaper so fab if you have pre school children or will/can take yours out of school..they have set discounts ranging from 10% to 30% at diff times but school hols are NEVER in with these discounts, the prices rise dramatically!..we went 16th nove last year, it was classed as band A, looked for same time this year..as it was busy(i expect it had previously been quiet so cheaper was to get business) and its now band D!
Colder months are cheaper and is still lovely, tbh i dont think i could go when its hot, i love getting wrapped up and walking out

ToomanynewyearsROSElutions · 04/01/2008 10:30

you need to go onto check availability and book and it should give you a list of dates with diff colours for diff bands

FriedGreenTomatoes · 04/01/2008 10:36

Hmmm... the CPWEB discount isn't working for me - do they apply the discount to the price on the final page, even though you enter it at the beginning?

ToomanynewyearsROSElutions · 04/01/2008 10:44

might be no discount on the time you are booking it??

ToomanynewyearsROSElutions · 04/01/2008 10:46

i just tested this weekend at whinfell it brought up some with and some wihout a discount..the discounts are only on selected dates/lodges.

ToomanynewyearsROSElutions · 04/01/2008 10:47

if thats the case and what/when you are looking for has NO discounts, its worth a try to ring them direct and ask if they CAN discount..if they have lots left of this accom or on this date, they may help? worth a try

lisad123 · 04/01/2008 18:08

some dates have it, some dont. Most of them are Jan, and midweeks have more. Should show up when your looking at rooms

Also seems some of the discounts only apply to a 3 bed, still cheaper than paying for a 2

Tribpot..went to Sherwood Forest in October, very accessible for wheelchair users throughout the main village area (ramps to most if not all shops and restaurants, leisure bowl etc) our lodge was all on one level but you can state you need wheelchair access and those lodges are nearer the main centre...we really enjoyed it there

tribpot · 05/01/2008 10:26

Thanks twofishes, sounds very promising!

lisad123 · 05/01/2008 13:54

dd wants to go back here instead of Cyprus this year!, we're thinking of trying sherwood this time, ben to whinfell 4 times now..lovely but fancy a change

lisad123 · 05/01/2008 19:30

well if you get it cheap enough you could do both

OP posts:
ToomanynewyearsROSElutions · 05/01/2008 19:35

i know...if work stays as good as it is right now, we may push the boat out, but trying to d the house this year and have just been pricing fitted wardrobes for dd's room!!..lets say centerparcs wont be anytime soon!
