Booking a Tesco delivery for over the christmas period

Recieved a letter from Tesco saying from 1st December you can book your christmas delivery slot 3 weeks in advance.

Will also be using the promotional money off codes from the tesco code thread on mumsnet.

Just to clarify,can I book a slot and checkout with my debit card even though the funds won't be available in my account at the time.
Am I right in thinking they will take the money on the day of delivery by which time the funds in my account will be available.

Bare in mind that, even though you've ordered now, stuff might be out of stock!

I did a double take as I thought this thread read "Bonking a Tesco delivery driver over Christmas".

I was mighty disappointed when I clicked on it and saw I had misread the title.

So can book a couple of delivery slots using the promotional codes adding expensive things to checkout and then go in at my lesiure to change the order up until the day before delivery day.

So really it would be best to book a delivery for about December 19th for the non perishables before they sell out.
I will be buying meat and fresh veg etc from our local market and butchers .

Please note, that you can only use money off codes the first time you check out - if you then go back a few days later and add more items, spend more money, so then want to use a different code you can't. This I find very annoying coz I like to start a small oder just to bagsy my slot and add to it over a couple of days. Tesco say they are hoping to change this soon!
