How can I work out how much I've saved?

I bank with Halifax and use their app. How can I work out how much I've saved since 1Jan 2019? Money is whizzing in and out and they have the bar at the bottom of each month but there is a different figure going in each month as I transfer smal amounts of money from different accounts etc. Is the best way to start with 1 Jan and deduct from current figure/balance? Money is going in and out so much. I'm only taking a few hundred saved at that!

What do you mean by saved? Do you not put money into a savings account? Where do you save it? What is money whizzing about for?

It's just a normal savings account with money going in and out for bills etc

If it’s a savings account money shouldn’t really be going in and out - it should be going in and staying there! Is it a separate account to your daily use current account?

Bill's shouldnt be coming out of a savings account?
We put money into the savings account the day after pay day. And hope nothing comes up that means we need to move money out. Or plan to move money out to e.g pay for a holiday. So probably 3 transactions max a month - one in, one planned out, one unexpected out. If we know we have an expensive month (car servi e/mot for example) we moving less into savings that month. Does that makes sense?

But yes, look at the balance in 1 Jan. Look at the balance today (or 31 July, if you want), and see how different they are.

We have a separate savings account makes it much easier to save and see how much we have. We have a bills account and whatever’s left over gets moved to the savings account once all direct debits have came off.
