Tesco overcharging

I swapped vouchers for double value at my local Tesco store, bill came to £85.67 and used £80.00 in vouchers, when checking bill later I find I have been over charged by £5.97 for a Moon Sand craft product,as on the shelf it was priced at £9.97 and came up on bill as £15.97,this was not noticed until we arrived home and I telephoned the store to be told to take back the goods and receipt, when we drove back and waited for half hr in queue we where told the price was correct,it had been changed overnight to what they are saying is the correct price, now I know I may be getting on in years but I know the price was £9.97 as the vouchers are for multiples of £10.00 once doubled up and I had calculated the amount in toys would be £80.00 in vouchers and possibly a few pence over,no response from e-mail to Tesco,so feet are doing the walking to Morrisons or Sainsbury's from now on and extended family will do the same.

Tesco have so frequently overcharged me I've become a walking receipt at this till, last time in a small shop the toothbrushes at £2 cane up at £4.75, the tea bags £1 at £1.95 and the lady took 10 mins to resolve as even though she agreed we were right and shelf wrong they no longer can overide and manager has to, cue angry people behind me in long queue!!
Can you not take item back for refund?

I was looking through my receipt once (and I never used to before this incident) and I noticed I'd been charged £12 for a 'kaftan' I never even bought any clothing... Food only. When I questioned customer service they said there was a virus that they had been trying to deal with all week, they just failed to mention it to their customers or get their check out operatives to scan through the receipt. I wonder how many people didn't notice being charged for things they hadn't bought?

I always check my receipt now! Angry

OP have Tesco been in touch?

mumworry · 22/11/2011 20:23

Constantly overcharged in Tesco-they do have double the difference-if they overcharge -however in local small tesco did overcharge went back with receipt manager refused point blank to give double the difference even when I showed him large blue poster on door said it no longer applied! Phoned head office and they sent gift voucher ,normally watch checkout till like hawk but that day in a rush!Seem to be more likely overcharged than not in Tesco but normally will refund without hassle except at local store!

Co-op are terrible for this. It's almost constat and all the cashiers seem to know all about it.

Morrisons are surprisingly good.

I was charged £30 for a two bottles of suntan lotion in the Summer which were on 2 for 1 so should both of cost me £15.
I rang customer care and eventually they sent me a Tesco card for £30. They have a policy where they refund the whole amount and you get to keep the item/s if they get in wrong.

Also in the summer - I discovered that I had been charge twice for a delivery so make sure you check your bank statements!
