Thorntons - don't bother

Thorntons have still not delivered my parcel and hadn't even despatched until today despite their promise to despatch the same day if orders received before 11am and if not the next day. I ordered on 11th December and live in an area where the only snowy day was yesterday, and not much fell then

I don't need most of the contents anymore because they were for folk I have already needed to give gifts to.

what a massive waste of money that was - and various people I wanted to buy for have got NOTHING as a result.

Customer services haven't been much bothered about it.

I have had the same experience with them in summer. I sent a big hamper with toffee and chocs to my Dad for his birthday and he told me that they all had about a month left on the sell by date. Paid extra for next day delivery and he got it 4 days later.
I complained and he got sent FOUR whole chocolates!

I have never used them again for delivery although do love the toffee.

Feel very sorry for you, it is so disappointing.

Needless to say I won't be using them again!

The stuff has yet to turn up 9 days after I ordered it - apparently this is because the hamper was not in stocl when I ordered it - but this was not mentioned funnily enough when they happily took my money.

It has apparently taken 9 days to get what I ordered back into stock.

apparently my order placed on 10th December is on the courier's van and snow permitting I will have it within 48 hours

I rang them last week to see where it was and it was still in 'picking' whatever that is

We shall see but I'm not a happy bunny either.

Did they give you a tracking number or the name of the courier, CCT?

Oh, I was just about to post and say that my Thorntons order has just arrived.

I hope everyone else gets their very soon.

Two of the chocolate figures are smashed but apart from that am very pleased with the contents.

Interestingly I placed an order with Very on Sunday night.. and it arrived this morning!!!! why can't all companies be that good?

right.. I rang again..

they use hermes and gave me the tracking number.

On the phone they said it will deffo be here before christmas but the tracking thing says

My parcel arrived today at last. One broken Santa, otherwise OK. I won't be buying mail arder from Thorntons again!

apparently that delivery thing means it first arrived with no information as to where it was supposed to go

It now has the correct information (my address) and will update in the small hours tonight to say it's on the couriers van tomorrow and should be delivered.

are the boxes very big? I'm thinking to leave the garage door unlocked and a note on the front door tomorrow so I can go out.

Oh no, I've been waiting for mine to arrive, I only ordered it last week, so I'm not sure it'll arrive in time :(

I'll call tomorrow and see if they can give me more info.

mine came today and was very impressed.

The box they deliver in is HUGE

it's not really such an amazing bargain as most of the stuff is already on 3 for 2 in store so is probably just overpriced to start with.

If it had been delivered last week I would still have been pleased but I am annoyed that they accepted an order for stuff that was out of stock when their website expressly states that despatch (not delivery) is always within 24 hours NOT 212 hours!!! Delivery took 10 days from time order was placed.

You got your delivery in the end then?! And you can go out now.

Thank goodness. It's a PITA waiting and ringing etc but glad you got it.

No update on the tracking thing on Hermes site, it says the same as yesterday

I think I'll give up on it and if it arrives then that's a bonus. Will chase them up for a refund after the holidays.

My replacement snowman just arrived - that was fast enough!
