Got a letter but dh readyit, I thought it was immediately so Dec will give us chance to use them up. Next ones are Nov?

FanjolinaJolie · 18/10/2010 20:09

Can you exchange them eg for Eurotunnel now and not use them for a while do you think?

Have letters gone out about this? first I've heard of it.

tassisssss · 18/10/2010 20:12

So, am I correct in thinking that i can exchange my current vouchers (plus the ones I'll receive in Nov) anytime up to Dec 13th?

(bit gutted about this change...)

woolymindy · 18/10/2010 20:13

Are they still doing doubling thing for electrical/clothes etc?

Ponders · 18/10/2010 20:19

Yes, change them for now what you were going to use them for & they are then good for 6 months (as long as the offer continues, they do sometimes stop with quite short notice) - AFAIK Eurotunnel is still on, fanjolina.

& FWIW, even 3x face value is still pretty good compared with a lot of loyalty cards (ie Nectar, which is crap)

Ponders · 18/10/2010 20:21

I mean 500 Nectar points is generally worth only £2.50 - 500 Clubcard points will still be worth £15 at 3x value.

Ponders · 18/10/2010 20:23

also, apart from bonus points offers you used to have to spend £500 to get 500 points, now you only have to spend £250.

Agree the fuel thing is a bit disappointing as we have had the bulk of our points from that, but I bet so do most other people & it was probably costing them a lot

have logged on mumsnet after reading my mail, am really disappointed with Tesco. They nibbled away at stuff this year. Am I the only one to find codes never work, there are fewer out there (and have tried new email addresses, new computers and even moved house and still they don't work). then they took away the airmiles bonus (big reduction there) and now a general reduction across the board. I have been a big advocate of Tesco but now some of the deals look less attractive and will have to consider what I use my vouchers for. Yes, they are still free and yes they are still better than other schemes. But some of the things I used them for become just as good value online. They have been wonderful over the years and given me a lot of treats and I should not be surprised but I admit to being disappointed. My other thought is, what is next. Which other area will go or be reduced. Will they take double points away in a few months?

Ponders · 18/10/2010 21:05

but the points are a freebie! do you think Tesco are generally too expensive or poor value/quality? if so you can always shop somewhere else if they stop giving them (or even if they don't).

Halving the points on fuel means we will probably go elsewhere for that - DH has Morrisons & Asda near his work & both are generally 1p or 2p cheaper - except when Tesco are doing their 5p a litre off a £50 spend.

You have to be pragmatic & shop around!

TheNextMrsDracula · 22/10/2010 23:09

I have just had a little splurge and booked lots of cinema tickets and meals out for use to use before Christmas.

I'll probably spend some more before the rate change in December. You do get 6 months to use the tokens.

I can't believe how much free stuff I get from just doing my weekly shop! Even at the reduced rate it's still pretty generous - normally pays for our summer holiday travel, a couple of days out, booze cruises etc.
