Do grocery stores in the UK accept coupons?

In the US one of the ways that people save $ on groceries and products is that they use coupons. The manufacturers provide coupons in the weekly newspapers, these can then be redeemed at the grocery store for $ off those items. Is there a similar system in the UK?

not a 'system' as such, but there are often money-off vouchers in magazines and newspapers

however these are generally for branded goods (Kellogs cornflakes, Cadbury chocolate etc) and usually buying the supermarker own label products will save you more than using the coupon on a more expensive product, iyswim.

Moneysavingexpert is a good place to start re getting the best value from uk supermarkets (and everything else).
