Do you have to be a VIP?
I can't find my customer number anywhere so I can't check.

you get an email inviting you

Tootlesmummy · 17/07/2010 08:29

I don't get the Next sale, most of the stuff is toot that they're trying to get rid of.

maxybrown · 17/07/2010 08:30

too late now anyway, but some people just signed into their account and were given the opportunity form there. You can sign into your account using just your email address and password now btw

Shaz10 · 17/07/2010 08:31

Tootlesmummy, that's all sales! (Which is why I hate sales)

Tootlesmummy · 17/07/2010 08:33

Shaz I know but the Next sales seems to cause a real excitement which I just don't get.

SixtyFootDoll · 17/07/2010 08:33

I wouldnt bother, I got a VIP slot, had a look but as usual just tat.

Shaz10 · 17/07/2010 08:34

Tootlesmummy it's great marketing by Next. Closing the shop for a couple of days, starting it at 5am, only letting 5 in at a time so that a queue builds up. People start to think "it starts early/there's a queue, it must be really good" and then they join in. Really clever.

Tootlesmummy · 17/07/2010 08:37

You have to admire them. I just can't be arsed to queue and to walk round the shop as people fight over items!
As you say fantastic marketing.

MadwoMen · 17/07/2010 08:37

I had a card through the post. did mine on thursday, really nothing in there tbh

maxybrown · 17/07/2010 08:51

Would never ever queue to get into a shop blimey! never got it either - it is always tat. Last sale I popped into a shop as was passing for stuff for DS and there was one little rail with boys stuff on and a whole shop full of girls stuff!! Had occasional things from the shop but aafter all the hype has died down

SharonGless · 17/07/2010 09:25

Been this morning - right load of shite in there.
I only go for basics ie jeans for DC and shoes for me as I have 42/43 feet.

Got there at 7 and they were queueing out of the shop to pay - with 4 banks of tills. Unbelieveable what people were buying and apparently it had been heaving since 5am when they opened.

Wouldn't bother going specially again - normally get a vip invite

Tootlesmummy · 17/07/2010 09:37

But because people see 'it's half price' they think it's great even though they wouldn't even dream of buying it when it's full price.....

I've just been on the site and I was right it is a load of old toot!

maxybrown · 17/07/2010 09:58

the site is always rubbish. Another mnetter went to a store and it was empty!! they could stroll around easily. Guess it just depneds on area............

mysteryfairy · 17/07/2010 10:44

I think a lot of the Next own brand stuff is pretty dire but I do think some of the stuff they carry in the catalogue is worth snapping up at the start of the VIP sale.

DS1 is a size 9 in footwear and has a complicated list of footwear requirements for PE including indoor trainers in white, outdoor trainers in white and dark outdoor trainers. I have bought him all brand names in the Next sale plus a pair of converse, all for £15 a pair. I don't know anywhere else I could have done that so cheaply.

In past sales I have also been able to buy Freya bras (normally around £30) for £10 and it has always been that seasons stock that I would have bought for full price in HoF or similar anyway.

I think most of the good stuff disappears in the first VIP slot and that was on Wednesday night. Within a few hours it really is mostly tat left.

Having said that I had a gorgeous and mega comfortable pair of flat jewelled sandals which I picked up for £25 (so already a bargain at full price) when I was taking a short cut through a branch of Next and everyone has been admiring them all season. They went down to £12 in the sale and just had a look and they are still in stock now, admittedly in very small or giant size only. I think people genuinely liked them as a few of my work colleagues have already ordered them in the VIP slots (obviously we've done a deal about not wearing to work or on work nights out!).

I think people massively over order in the first few slots - one girl at work order £800 of clothes! - so if you are interested you can pick up items in a few days from the online sales listing as the returns start to flood in.
