Did anyone notice Reception feeling different from nursery at Hampstead Hill School?

Just wondering if anyone with older children at Hampstead Hill noticed a change when they moved into Reception?

My son has been there since nursery and has always been really happy. Last year especially he loved school, had lots of outdoor time, played loads and generally seemed very settled.
He’s normally a very confident, outgoing, physical child and has never really needed much reassurance from us. But over the last couple of weeks he’s become noticeably more emotional and keeps asking whether he’s been good, whether he’s been kind etc, which is really unlike him.
Nothing else in his routine has changed, so I’m just wondering whether Reception is quite a different environment from nursery/pre-Reception — maybe more structured, more academic, or different in terms of expectations from the teachers?
I’m not really worried about academics - I mainly want him to be happy and enjoy school.
Would be really interested to hear from anyone whose children have already been through Reception there — did you notice any change at this stage?

maybe because half of the pre-reception cohorts have left?

Don't think so, very happy with friends and new kids
