We are soon to move out of London to Horsham and are now looking for schools for our two boys (7&11). Given the geography, and we don’t want to travel too far, Farlington seems the obvious choice. Does anyone have any experience, especially with boys. I see it used to be a girls school. Are there many boys there now? I’ve seen a few other posts on here about the school so any up to date info will be appreciated.

Farlington’s the obvious Horsham one on a map, but I’d still go and see it on a normal day if you can get one, not just an open morning. It only went fully co-ed in 2021, so I’d want to know how many boys are actually in your two year groups, not the whole-school “we’re co-ed now” line. A 7 year old and an 11 year old can have quite different days in the same place, so it’s worth looking at the younger end and the senior end separately.

I’d book a couple of other local visits while you’re moving anyway. Two kids, a house move, a new school run… the nearest school isn’t always the one that makes term time feel doable. See how the boys are with the other kids, what time the day actually finishes, wraparound, and whether you’re looking at one drop-off or a faffy loop. That stuff wears you down faster than the prospectus does.
