Hi
I wondered if anyone knows the independent schools in Surrey, around Woking/Guildford ares?
My DS is in year 5 and his CAT4 score was 100, so average. I know RGS is highly selective, I heard Reeds is less selective but I think my son might still struggle to get in and the fees are much more expensive. Any thoughts on lightly selective/non-selective schools in the area that would be a good fit for him? he enjoys sports but I wouldn't say he excels at any particular sport.

Hoebridge in Woking is Less selective
Halstead St Andrews HSA goes until year 8
Haliford is less selective than others.
St George’s Weybridge is v sporty and quite academic

The fact that Reeds is going co-ed for year 7 from 2027 and RGS from 2028 shows the drop in birth rate/ vat on fees continues to be a major concern for schools and admissions impacting pass rates for the entry process. But otherwise St George’s and Halliford are good options.

Buyers market. Get yourself a tutor and you will be able to pick. 100 is quite low but if lots of 1 to 1 you can prob increase quite a bit. Plus outside activities sports / music etc.

Id recommend an old established school rather than the pop ups of HSA / hoe etc 🤣
