Cranleigh Prep

We are considering Cranleigh Prep for year 7 and was wondering if anyone has recent feedback. Is it quite an Alpha environment? Are most families there incredibly wealthy or are there also work hard/scrape together fees type families? It used to have a reputation of being quite a flash school and I was wondering if this has changed?

Finally, if we progressed to the senior school, do day children feel left out? I think it's something like 75% boarding, so I do worry that as a day pupil, you may feel like you're always on the outside.

We never considered it before as fees were so high, but the introduction of the new day option (still expensive, but a lot less than the previous option) has put it on our radar.

Thank you in advance,

Put it this way, when I visited i nearly tripped over a fortnum & mason water bottle!!! It’s a lot to ‘scrape together’ so you’re not going to get many families who aren’t comfortably well off. Seriously though, I think school works hard to blend day pupils with boarders.. & the days end up wanting to board anyway as much fun is had.

This is one of my concerns - we would not be able to afford boarding (over £20k a year more than the new day fees) or want DC boarding - therefore I wouldn't want my day DC feeling left out because they went home at 5pm. Do your children go there?
