Our DD is on the waiting list for Wimbledon High with mention of upper end of the wailist.
Does anyone have insight and experience into how much the WHS list typically moves?

It was few years ago for us but the waitlist moved a lot on state school results day. A friend let me know her DD had just got a place so we called to see our chances as were just about to accept another school. We were offered a place on the phone call and all accepted 24 hours later.
Good luck!

We are currently in a bit of a dilemma. Our DD heart is currently set on Tiffin Girls - pending results, but we are very concerned about the impact of a difficult commute . for some reasons, she isn’t particularly excited about the WHS itself probably becuase she wasnt wowed with facilities after seeing many other open houses of other schools , we loved it ...
On the flip side, she has offers from Guildford , scholarships from Surbiton, and JAGS but she’s ruled both of them out for some reason.
We're trying to weigh and convince her that the shorter commute, convenience and the school's atmosphere eventually outweigh the first impression of the campus. what to tell her ?

Have you been to the open day for offers at SHS? They do a great job of selling the school. But overall if you get a straight Tiffin offer in March, most dd with the offers you have will take Tiffin and manage the commute. You could pay for Ubers with the money you will save from no school fees. But there is a chance you will get Tiffin WL which means you have to pay a private school deposit and then wait out movement on the WL which can take many months so you do need to have a private option agreed going into 2nd March.

@WHSWLMoMWe have just given up our place at WHS, I’m sure a lot of families would be choosing their schools this weekend so if you ring on Monday there must be some movement in the waitlist. Good luck to you and your daughter.

We have decided to move out of the WHS WL Queue, chosen G&L

GL is nice. It’s such a difficult decision. We haven’t still finalised. It’s going to be LEH mostly as it is much closer for us.

We just declined WHS with academic scholarship on Fri, hope the WL moves for your DD to get a place!

DDWHS26 · 02/03/2026 14:54

Thanks , we also declined the WL and chose G&L
