Morning, quick question to ask what experiences were of offers at Surbiton High this year… and for those who know it, how would you rate the pastoral care?

It seems to have been very popular in terms of applications this year. We have a DD who has an offer at GHS and Surbiton but have another DD one year behind. We are at a local primary where either school are an option in terms of travel (and neither are close).

My questions are - for older DD, what is the pastoral care like especially for those who aren’t sports scholars? We are narrowing down final options but think we will go GHS.

For younger DD, we think Surbiton might be a better fit for her… but it sounds competitive to get into and we know a few who didn’t get in / have been waitlisted among older DD cohort.

We are local to SHS and so know quite a few who applied and every child that we know that has applied this year has been offered a place and with at least 1 scholarship so I feel it's quite easy to get an offer. Girls are always happy at SHS and pastoral care is great from speaking to parents.

We also have an academic offer for GHS but only know a couple other girls who applied this year and both also have offers, although no scholarships.

Interesting - we know several girls with scholarship offers at GHS. Maybe our cohorts are similar in terms of ability so we wouldn’t hear of other outcomes (and I don’t like to ask people). Are you at private or state? The girls we know who got the scholarships are almost all at preps, we aren’t but it means we don’t know as many overall applying.

I wonder if offers were very high (or applications low) all around this year? Hard to interpret the patterns.

Thanks for the insight on Surbiton, at least this year we will know what we are doing with the exams.
