Atom Learning vs Century Tech - ISEB Pre-Test

Hi everyone,

I’m in need of some perspective. DC is currently in Year 5 at prep school and we are officially on the Pre-test treadmill.

We’ve used Atom Learning at home in the past for other DCs and I really liked the "Islands" and the way it basically holds their hand through the curriculum. DC’s prep school has just announced they are switching everyone over to Century Tech this year.

I’m finding the interface really confusing compared to Atom. It doesn't seem to guide him in the same way, and I feel like I’m constantly having to hover to make sure he’s actually doing something productive.

Has anyone else made the switch? Does Century "click" eventually or should I stick with what we know works for his confidence?

We are aiming for an academic senior school for DC.

I don’t know century but I absolute rave about how good atom is, it’s brilliant! it got my child easily through the 11 +

I don’t know century tech but atom learning (plus paper based books/tests) worked for my kids for ISEB and CEM tests.

We used Atom a lot but then wanted to try Century as it’s the official ISEB platform and DD’s target school used ISEB.

We signed up for the free Century trial and god it was AWFUL, beyond abysmal. Neither DD nor I could fathom how they don’t make it possible to go through the questions from a test she has set, to see which ones she got wrong.

And yes, seemingly no way for me to set particular tasks for DD to do, in the way you can with Atom, to focus on weaker areas.

We gave up after one day, abandoned the free trial and went straight back to paying for Atom.

My response may not help you that much (sorry!) but I needed to vent in the hope it saves others from wasting their time and money and/or that someone from Century may see it and do something about their embarrassment of a platform.

DCs school tried to switch from Atom to Century. Everyone hated it & they promptly switched back. Atom is far more user-friendly plus many of us had already signed up to the yearly subscription. DC has just got results of ISEB & has an unconditional offer from chosen secondary school, I think largely thanks to Atom.

My DD used Atom and Pre-test Plus, the Atom format (how it looked on screen) was most similar to Atom but Pre-test Plus has topics not covered by Atom so I would do at least a couple tests from there.
