Hi everyone,
I’m a bit stuck choosing between Ipswich School, Ipswich High, and Woodbridge for Year 9 and would really appreciate some advice or experiences from other parents.

My daughter is currently at Orwell Park and really thrives in the kind, gentle and friendly culture there. She’s an all-rounder when it comes to sports (solid but not exceptional), academically strong and very good at art.

We’ve visited all three schools but are still not sure which would be the best fit. Any success stories, insights, or recommendations would be hugely appreciated!

Also happy to help, particularly on Ipswich High if you want to PM me.

I have a child at one of them and friends with children at the other two. Feel free to PM me as well if you're still looking for feedback.

Have you been offered a taster morning/day by any of the schools? Given she is in year 8, there is obviously a cohort at each school she could slot into and get a feel for it. I assume Orwell Park would be supportive, it's not like they can offer her a year 9 place. In the same place as previous poster with direct and indirect experience. They are all great schools though, I'm not sure there's a wrong answer to this which is nice so other factors like location can come into this.

Happy to help with Ipswich High School specifically - I have two girls there and they love it.

I would say the school is decent at sport but they really thrive in the arts, drama, and music side. Academically fine but not on par with places like Ipswich School as they have a selective entrance exam.

You should look into their Year 9 scholarships, they have an Art scholarship which could be good!
