Just wandering if anyone else is in the final throws of indie prep for 11+ with their dcs? Last furlong now it seems on what feels like an incredibly long race!

how was highgate interview? i heard they have a group interview usually split boy/ girl - wondering as well if it was v boys heavy or well split

How about the interview? Do u know how many child in for a day?

We went for music discovery day last week and I saw quite a lot of girls there.. I can say half/half.

I barely saw any girls at Latymer Upper interview day and it s co ed so I was wondering if the ratio was as well heavily skewed towards boys.

My son’s interview group today was 50/50

Anyone got any tips for City of London (boys) interview?

I saw lots more boys than girls going in. DS enjoyed it and said it was fun which was good so I'm pleased he wasn't broken by it.

Do we reckon will hear from ucs tomorrow?

Any thoughts on the Putney interview from any of those whose DDs attended? The format was different to previous years and my daughter was surprised by how few questions she was asked. Less in depth than other interviews we attended.

Yes i felt it was a different format than what we were expecting as well - group exercise didn’t seem to be assessed and wasn’t to do with the eventual task (my DD said she picked a different picture to write about than the one discussed with her group)

UCS email came. Hope was good news for anyone waiting. We have an interview next Saturday

trying to get my head around how many offers these schools may give out to account for multiple offer holders.
Anyone have any insight into how many places are offered per place?

Same here - I would imagine 60 spots you offer 90 ? Some ppl wanting st paul or Westminster - others having Ucs first choice - maybe some pref for co ed ie highgate - I would imagine around that - But abs no clue

I know someone who worked in uni offers and said it’s a complicated calculation every year, depends on how many people applied compared to previous years and how popular the uni thinks the course is (are you likely first choice for most students or third choice).

I’ve read here that popular secondary schools overoffer by about 10-20% of spots available and the less popular ones by 200%. I know kids in London who had 5-7 offers so that makes me think most schools overoffer by quite a bit. And of course all schools have to fill their secondaries especially now. One of my friend’s works at a private school (which has just gone from single sex to co-ed) and said applications have been declining in the last years.
My DD was asked in one of the interviews how many schools she applied for and which ones.

May I ask, if a child is shortlisted for a music exhibition/scholarship (reduced from about 60 applicants to around 10–20), what are his chances of receiving it and offer? The Head of Music interviewed him and mentioned that if he joins the school, he would have organ lessons as a new instrument (his main instrument is piano G8) and could also choose a brass instrument for a second lesson (his current second instrument is recorder G6).
