Wrong birth year

I've come to realise that by mistake I gave the wrong birth year at school, when my child started kindergarten. 2012 instead of 2011. I only realized my mistake when sorting out passports this last month and entering the correct birth date from birth certificate. He is in year 9 but according to his correct birth year he should be in year 10. I feel like an awful mum, that i did not pick on this, I'm feeling really embarrassed to tell the school. My husband is super annoyed at me saying how silly could I have been to not realise. I hope that the school does not put him in year 10. Am I the only one who has done such a silly thing.

😮 is this in the UK? I mean, you can't be the only parent to have ever done this. But it's the first time I've personally heard of this! Hopefully they don't insist on moving him up a year but there may be legislation that forces them to...not sure.
We all make mistakes OP.

Funny that your son has never noticed his own age or the age of any of his friends

Or that, never in nine years did either he or the OP ever have to write his birthdate on a form (after registering).

Ok, guys it's 3am in the UK a frazzled sleep deprived covid brain. A school admin error, wrong information from chat gtp. Led me to believe he was in the wrong year. 😂 He was born in October 2011, so he is in year 9 the correct year. However for parent online payment access the school have put 2012, which I have not picked upon and thinking it was the right birth year and was confused when filling in passports last week. 😅 When I asked chat gtp what year should a October 2011 child in the UK be in..it put year 10. Hence I panicked! Double checked his other school forms especially for dyslexia assessments correct birth date is written.

My birthdate was placed wrong, way back in the 1970s. My mum said she put the year right on the form and it was never discussed whether it was she or school that got it wrong. My birthday in the July would be quite close to the following younger yr September birthdays. Being about 9yrs old and having gone to a few schools ref military family, age wasn't discussed at school. What happened was a teacher overheard me mention my age after a few months in the wrong year and then they moved me instantly to the right year class. It was traumatic and I will never forget it. The teacher I moved to was annoyed about it and said I would have to leave out what was missed. Soon, moved on again from UK to Malta and then only 3 hrs school a day from 9 - 12 heat rule, always behind.
