Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help. Have any of you had children who are wokring at expected levels get into Highgate. Is there any point in sitting the exam if this is the case, or do you have to be wokring at greater depth in everything (state school). I think she is on the cusp of greater depth in maths, not sure about english.

I can’t answer your question directly, but my child was the only one from his prep school that got an offer for Highgate, and only from the Waiting list. It is, perhaps, the most difficult school in North London to get into at 11.

That said, it might be less competitive with VAT on fees - I think quite a lot of in-year places have come up recently.

My impression is that the English paper is particularly tough at Highgate, so if that is a strength in your child, it might help. And the 11+ papers are quite different to what is required in KS2 SATS, so the meeting expectations/ exceeding expectation might be irrelevant.

Thanks @Romanbathers i realise it’s a bit of a punt. Two children from DSs state school got in last year. By they parents own admission they were very surprised!
