Hi mums,
We’re currently looking for schools for our sons (Year 1 and Nursery), and we visited Kew Green and Unicorn yesterday. They both seemed lovely in different ways, but I’d really love to hear from any parents with children there, especially about the pastoral care. As Our older son is a bright and energetic child, but he sometimes struggles with listening to instructions and tends to play quite roughly with friends. We’re looking for a school that is supportive and nurturing, rather than overly strict, and that works closely with children to guide their behaviour in positive ways.
Could you please tell us more about how Unicorn School approaches situations like this? For example:
- How do teachers respond when a child is not following instructions or is being too physical during play?
- What kind of guidance or strategies are used to help children learn self-regulation?
- Are there any pastoral or behavioural support systems in place for children who need extra help with social or emotional development?
How do the schools support children emotionally and socially? Do the teachers really get to know the children and support them individually?
Any thoughts or experiences would be so appreciated — thank you! 😊
