Abingdon Prep

Asking for a friend… Any up to date views on Abingdon Prep? I see the head is leaving and it seems quite small - has it always been small (200 pupils) or is it struggling?

I have had a private tour of Abingdon prep and it seems like a lovely school, academically very good, all the right facilities. Introducing girls this year, with the numbers low to start with as would be expected, mainly siblings joining their brother(s). I think within a few years they will have many more girls attending as Abingdon School does so well and the prep is the main feeder school. It’s a shame the head is leaving, I had a really good impression of him and the pupils seemed to like him.

Statement in a newsletter sent to OLA parents at the end by of March 2025. I quote:
Q: What is the financial stability of the school?
A: The financial stability of the school of highest priority. We have implemented strong financial management practices and are continuously monitoring our financial health to ensure long-term stability.

An overview of their finances is readily available on the Charity Comission website, their income is huge (covers both prep and the senior school) and their expenditure healthily below their expenditure. It looks normal to me.
