How does your prep school apply the 15 hours funding?

Just curious how your child’s prep school works the 15 funded hours into their fees?

We’ve registered our DC for a place and have just found out they do accept the 15 hours funding — which we didn’t even realise, so that’s a bit of a bonus!

It’ll apply for the full three terms as DC is summer-born, but we’re wondering how much of a discount we’ll actually see on the fees. Does your school deduct a set amount per term? Or do they calculate it based on actual attendance/hours?

Would love to hear how it’s worked out at your school to get a rough idea!

DD's school (London girls' prep) deducts a a set amount per term. Their nursery attendance is set up so you have to do a minimum of 5 mornings (which is 20 hours) which is listed at £3681 per term (VAT exempt) but you'd actually pay £2457 per term after the discount. (You can choose to attend up to 5 afternoons as well, for an additional charge). The academic year is much less than 38 weeks.

The 15 hours discount applies in the Reception year too (until the child turns 5), so for us we can get 3 terms of nursery discount plus 2 terms of Reception discount. Reception fees are £7546 per term without the funding and £6076 with the funding, inc of VAT.

For our school all these charges are listed clearly on the website.

Thank you! Nothing on our website, just that they accept the hours.
