School fee

Is there any repercussions for not being able to pay the notice period fee in a private school . My husband has been made redundant and we are struggling with the finances . The kids have moved to a state school but the school expects the summer term fee to be paid in full which is about 13k . Has anyone been in a situation like this before . Any leads will be appreciated

Yes it will be in the contract you signed when your child started. They can and will demand the full term's fees. You need to communicate with the school and come to an arrangement with them.

Contact the school - they might have provisions for redundancy. It really depends on the school's financial situation I think. Some are really struggling, in breach of their debt covenants already. If it's one of those schools, they will feel unable to let you out of the payment. I know someone who works in one and the situation is dire - they are currently in a redundancy exercise due to major financial problems.

@Soultraveller , contact the school and ask to put a payment plan in place, be open with the school because you don't want to accrue interest.
