Putney High vs. Surbiton High?

Hi all, our DD is lucky to be offered places at both schools (4+). Commute wise, SHS is within walking distance which is very appealing to us, vs. half-an-hour drive to PHS. We wish to go for one which is academic - PHS looks to be a bit more "academic"? We also heard that PHS is more competitive, but we have no idea how competitve in this sense.
Does anyone know more about these schools and how would you compare between these 2? P.S our DD is non-sporty.
Thanks in advance x

Always go with the easiest commute when your dc is small, walking to school is a gift and having local friends. You are 12 years away from GCSEs and so much can happen in that time, you can always change school anyway. My dd went to SHS from 11 and by the end of the 6th form there was only a handful of dd who had joined at age 4, it's the same at all the girls schools, they like change at 11 or 16.

Definitely Surbiton, especially when young! The difference in schools isn’t huge but the time commuting (especially in all the traffic when they do clubs after school) is massive. And as the previous poster said; you could move at 11 if you wanted to.

At 4 walking to school is more important. She can always move at 11

@car332 would be helpful to know if you chose to accept/decline PHS. We are on waiting list and are in the area so only option for us xxx. Best of luck to you and dd :)

Definitely SHS if walkable. The differences between the 2 are not worth a 30 minute drive! She could move at 11 but an easy journey that can be made independently is so worth it for Secondary school as well.

Hello OP. Would be nice to know if you have decided as would be helpful for us to know if waiting list will move.
Thanks a lot in advance
