Hello all, my DD has received a place at Newton Prep for Reception 25. We are excited as it seems like an excellent school and a good fit for her. My only question/concern is that there will be a new head next year - does anyone know anything about the new head or have feedback on this transition? Thank you in advance!

Dear Battersea mum
My son started Newton prep when Nicholas Allen was in charge and left when Alison Flemming had been head for about 4 years.

All I can say is that Alison Flemming leaving can only be a positive development, as the school declined in so many respects under her leadership.

Alison Fleming really struggled to deal with severe racist bullying against students. Racism was not taken seriously at all and repetitive racist bullying was very often brushed off as impulsivity even amongst preteens and 13 year olds.

Although I don't know much about the proposed new head, upon first reading, he appears to be more forward thinking than Alison Fleming.

I hope this helps. Good luck, Newton Prep can be an amazing school under the right headship. Hoping it works out for the best.

There is indeed a problem of bullying in this school, and the school doesn't solve the problem at all, it's just an escape. We have already transferred, and I also think there is a racial problem.
