Hi there,

I am looking for any information on Shrewsbury House Prep School in Long Ditton for my DS.

He is currently at a co-ed prep but we want to find somewhere more sporty but wondered if Shrewsbury House Prep is very academic and pressured as we want to strike a good balance.

Any thoughts welcome!🙏

I would say it has a fairly broad range of academic ability and doesn’t just cater for the top achievers. My son is very happy there.

We really liked the school during our tour and received an offer for DS. Hopefully, it will be a right choice.

Would thoroughly recommend SHS. Our son is currently there and loving it, as are we his parents. Very sporty, but inclusive. And academic without being a hot house.

I am hesitating between Felton Fleet, Milbourne Lodge and Shrewsbury house. My boy is 5, going into Year 1 in September. They all have a space for him. I am edging towards Shrewsbury house which now will be in Surbiton for all kids. From parents who have their kids there, are you happy? I am slightly concerned about it being boys only... it's wild for where I come from as I am from Central Europe :) Is there more bullying as its boys only? Does it create a strange dynamic? I liked the school facilities and the small classes ...

Where will you be living? I think boys only is fine. But shrewsbury ending at 13 starts to shut the door on the more local 11+ traditional options? And shrewsbury and milbourne are both less nurturing than some of the other options (so boys move between other schools due to this). Feel free to PM x
