George Heriot's pick up and drop off

Hey, I was just wondering about the situation with pick up and drop off and Heriot's if you travel by car. We live outside Edinburgh, so unfortunately not suitable options for us with public transport having to drop off and get to work in the city.

We can imagine pick up in particular being a nightmare, and wanted to ask those of you that have kids attending George Heriot's. Is there any space to park outside the school and run in to drop off/pick up? What do people do?

Our daughter is not attending yet but accessibility is one of the factors we are taking into account before deciding to take her there.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

It depends on the age of your child. For Nursery, P1 and P2- you have access to the terrace. After that most hover on the single yellow outside or park down at George Square. Once they are old enough they can walk down to george square so you don’t have to pay for parking. Hope that helps. It’s a great school.

Thank you! That information is very useful. George square makes sense and I guess we can look at buses once she is a bit older too. I agree, it seems like a wonderful place to send your children to.
