I agree with you, 2shoes. I thought it was funny too.

I wonder how many of the outraged people have children with sn themselves. ime, parents of children with sn tend to have quite a good sense of humour

belgo · 03/07/2009 07:55

Well I also think the OP is funny. And she has a point. I hope she hasn't been scared off mumsnet

piscesmoon · 03/07/2009 08:09

I think she made a great point . Hope you come back OP and tell us you weren't scared off!

flamingobingo · 03/07/2009 08:13

Celery · 03/07/2009 08:14

milou2 · 03/07/2009 09:37

Little message to class teacher suggesting that she is ... a teeny bit average too ....

LynetteScavo · 03/07/2009 09:37

Teachers really should come up with a new word for average, to protect parents from being traumatised.

Oblomov · 03/07/2009 10:00

I don't agree with trickerg
This forum is the perfect place for this.
I want ds to be average. I think he is. Thus I am happy.

Poor op, she was just teasing, I thought it was funny too.

ronshar · 03/07/2009 10:34

Oh I thought the news was going to be your child has thread worms.

Very funny though. Should you have posted in gifted and talented??

piscesmoon · 03/07/2009 10:35

Now is the time to get the tutor and have him working away on Saturday mornings, with homework set for the rest of the week-if he is only average you must take several years to drill him into shape!

coppertop · 03/07/2009 10:36

Hasn't anyone suggested counselling yet?

fleacircus · 03/07/2009 10:38

Made me laugh. But then my sensitivity is below average, so that might be why.

Apparently in areas where they let parents vote on whether to retain or move to the grammar system, they overwhelmingly voted in favour. Imagine their horror when their kids turned out not to be among the chosen few and ended up at the secondary mod instead.

Tamarto · 03/07/2009 10:45

I'd report the teacher tbh, how dare she say such a thing!

myredcardigan · 03/07/2009 10:56

Come back, OP!
It's a new day op so hopefully some on this thread will have changed out of their judgy pants.

You made me laugh anyway! And having been here for 5yrs I've seen many a thread that really was insensitive.

piscesmoon · 03/07/2009 10:59

I blame Ofsted-you can't be satisfactory any more-you have to be good or outstanding!
In the same way you can't be average-you have to be good or outstanding!

Oblomov · 03/07/2009 11:18

Has Op not come back then ? Shame.
Christ , you can't discuss any flippin' topic on Mn these days.

OrmIrian · 03/07/2009 11:25

Oh come on! Twas a joke. And let's face it on MN the vast majority of DC are bloody geniuses anyway it seems

happywomble · 03/07/2009 11:41

Last year DS' teacher said he was below average (along with most of the other boys in the class). A term later the next teacher said he was above average. Take it all with a pinch of salt!

ronshar · 03/07/2009 11:46

POor OP. You try to make a small joke to cheer up a dull Thursday night and what happens. You get abused.
Mumsnet is not what it used to be
