tutor for a six year old

I am looking for a tutor for my six year old son to help with his numeracy, writing and spelling. I have looked for tutors in the past, and have not found them particularly engaging.

I really need someone who will make learning fun, and will in turn build his confidence in the classroom.

I live in Walthamstow, so a tutor living in east or north london would be ideal.

Nooka..."Now we live in Canada and there is pretty much no homework, and very little extra tuition either" I find this very interesting...where in Canada are you nooka?

my word, this thread has turned a bit nasty.

I thought the spirit of MN was for somebody to feel free to come here and ask for a bit of advice without a whole heap of judgement being passed on what kind of parent they are. It depresses me to see how some mothers are so judgemental on how other women parent. geez, where is the solidarity here?

it's like if someone posts, does anyone know of a hotel with good childcare? some answers would be "what? you don't want to spend every minute of your waking hour with them?" or i feel guilty about going to work, will the feelings go away? some would say "why anyone would choose to go back to work before their children are 18 beggars belief".

some people just come on here for a bit of advice. i think on a parenting forum, we should try, at the very least, to assume that we want what is best for our children and try to proceed from that vein. if you vehemently oppose the premise of the situation for which advise is being asked, just back out of the thread (unless it's AIBU then feel free!

anyway, i didn't read all of the posts, but i hope the OP found some advice she could act on.
