Since coming back after Easter the funding for my 1-1 support has been cut from 20 hours a week to 10 hours a week. I also volunteered the rest of my time to give the child contiuouse 1-1 support.
Before Easter my 1-1 was doing relay well the violant outbursts were almost non exsistant. Most of the time he was happy hoewever he was not ready for his support to be dramaatically dropped due to the fact that we were only starting to work on self control.

Today however we have had the day from hell!
1st we had a tantrum because he was not allowed to leave his bike helmet in schoolso had a wobbler at 8:55am.
2nd he was sent from assembly beacuse he was hitting the people in front in the back
3rd Did lovly cutting and sticking.
4th At lunch he kicked me as I was not letting him leave until he had finished his lunch.
5th He called me stupid during PE.
6th Shouted at me stuck his tounge out repeatidly whilst outside so I sent him in at this he kicked the tyre. He then was sent with me to the head bby the teacher.
My question is on 10 hours a week what the hell can I do?

What does the SENCO say about the cut in hours? The 20 hours may have been given to support his transtion from nursery into reception and the hours have now been phased out.

I think that the only thing you can do is to keep detailed notes of all his behaviours including the:

A - antecedant (what led up to it/caused it)
B - behaviour
C - consequence

Make sure you date and time all your notes. These notes should give the classteacher and SENCO some of the evidence they need if they decide to go back to panel to try and reinstate some/all of his hours.

What does his statement say?

I feel for you. I am currently supporting 2 boys with similar behavioural issues (among other things) whilst we are waiting for the statements to come through. Both have severe speech and language problems and emotional difficulties. One of them is on the child protection register. My contract isn't even going to be renewed come September and the head has said he will not be replacing anyone who goes so I worry about what will happen to my boys (and on a totally selfish note, I worry about doing my uni course without my job, worry about money, the usual).

My sympathy but it could be worse...
my "problem" child arrived at 8.45
1 when he discovered he wasn't the first into the class he ran at the other child and hit him in the face
2 threw sand in the eyes of another child because he didn't want anyone else playing in the sand
3 turned the hose (outdoor area) on and drenched himself and 2 younger children
4 crashed a trike into the back of the nursery teachers legs
5 had to be changed for a 2nd time after putting his leg down the loo
6 threw his lunch over the floor because he didn't want his sandwiched
7 poured his drink into another child's lunchbox soaking the sandwiches
8 spit in an older child's face in the playground
this was his morning and doesn't include the children he nipped on the carpet or the pushing or the constant interruptions making it impossible to teach or read stories ... he has no support because mum says he hasn't got problems!

hi all

little fish: My SENCO is like a chocolate tea pot no use or ornament. I do the ABC thing with regards to written reports as it is but this getting increaisingly hard in the 10 hours I work. In Wales where I work hardly any children get statments only ones with realy bad conditons for example cystic fibrosis. My 1-1s hours are at present on a term by term basis. I just find it rarther frustating tahts all. To top it off littlefish I am used as a class support as in the afternoons there is no support in the reception class that I work in.

Thank you all for your help I will let you know how it develops.
