school hair styles for an extremely scruff-prone dd

whatever style dd goes to school in, she comes out in a right state

have had to do loads of nit combing lately and it's really damaged her hair so need to treat it as gently as possible too

it's shoulder-blade length, straight and fine with a growing-out fringe (down to her chin nearly)

thanks!

lol

well, IT WORKED!

she came out with her hair intact! slightly sort of fuzzy looking from wearing woolly hat at playtime but essentially intact!

right, that is her style every day from now, lol

thanks for the advice!

ha ha - let us know how you get on, Bocca - all it is really is a normal plait but constantly adding in from each side....

Trouble is, dinny, that I know the theory - when dd's hair was longer I used sometimes to French-plait the top bit from front to back (if you get my drift). But it took me ages - it would have been so much easier if I had three hands! - and she wouldn't stay still long enough for me to F-p the whole lot.

dinny · 05/01/2009 20:40

yeah, mine is a real wriggler - she can't stay still

I do it when she's reading her school book

I'm glad it worked dinny.

I wash dd1 hair in vosene 3in1 shampoo with conditioner and teatree oil once a week and the plat when wet. I use Avon shampoo and conditioner once a week.

Then just tidy up before school.

dinny - you know when you tried the lycra head bands on dd did you have them behind ears or any part covering the ears? i have been looking after my niece today and she keeps insisting on having it covering her ears (perhaps cos it is so cold!!) and it kept falling forwards.

I am so glad it worked dinny! I have a school photo of my cousin in our living room and she has her pigtails in it, so cute!

4th day in, a new neat dd! it's fab - she's fed up with the same style every day though

can you french plait the top bits and secure in bunches leaving the ends loose iyswim as a change.

My DD has really really scruffy hair and has 2 bunches plaited. It lasts really well, I can even leave it in overnight and it looks the same the next morning, lazy mother that I am.
