Thank you to everyone who gave advice on school clubs - we're going to go with a Lego Club, as that will probably be most popular with our kids.
If you have any experience of running or attending a school Lego club, I would appreciate your ideas or tips.
So far, we have decided to have a weekly theme/challenge, which the children can take part in if they want. Ideas for topics would be great.
I would be particularly interested in how clubs deal with builds at the end of each session - is everything taken apart? do the children do that or the club leaders? We don't have any space for displaying Lego builds, so that isn't an option, plus I think it would greatly reduce the amount of bricks we have available if too many are being displayed in models.
Thank you again!

You could incorporate Lego Therapy which develops social skills. You will find books and resources online.
You can buy Lego ideas books too.
I’d suggest taking photos of builds to display or keep in a pocket wallet file.

DS goes to lego club. They are very strict about the kids clearing up after themselves before pick-up time, but they all do it together to music, so it's part of the fun I guess.

Also, set behaviour expectations from day 1. A kid was recently banned because he continued to throw lego pieces across the room after several warnings.

Ime of helping to run a Lego club with a class set of 18 boxes of Lego Technic with years 3-6, the builds were broken up by students and went back in their boxes at the end. Check the floor thoroughly for dropped bits. It’s worth starting pack up 10 minutes before the scheduled end time to thoroughly tidy everything.

I was wondering whether to get the kids to break up the builds as part of clearing up (love the idea of doing it to music btw), or to have them clear up all loose bricks but give them the opportunity to show what they've built to parents when they're being picked up, and then I will break everything up after they've gone.

Very good points about rules and expectations too.
