Not the one you want to send your child to, just the nearest one to your house?

Minutes away

WonderingAndOverthinking · 04/10/2026 08:26

Our very closest one closed a couple of years ago. Nearest ones now are 35 min walk or 45 mins walk. Both in different boroughs. Looking for next year and thinking how different it will be from the 6 min walk to primary that we have now!

I can see it out the window, although it takes about 7 mins as you have to walk round.

Why? 3 miles to our closest secondary school, there is another 4 miles away and then one more about 7 miles. How relevant is that to you though?
we could live with 25 amazing schools in a 20 minute walk but how does that affect you?

Edited

Nobody said it affects me at all? I’m asking a question on a forum. Why did you open and answer this thread if you are just going to be so fucking rude?

@horseplay12
Why so rude?

Absolutely.

2 miles , 6 minute drive , can walk in 15 mins as shortcut across a park

Posywosey · 04/10/2026 08:33

10 min walk. Firmly in catchment, and we are happy about that (if it continues to be a great as it is).

Sixth form is further away, though.

chickensandbees · 04/10/2026 08:34

5.1miles

Ta2025 · 04/10/2026 08:35

1.5km, takes about 20 mins to walk there

Rocknrollstar · 04/10/2026 09:16

At the bottom of our road. Not that our DD wanted to go there!

Wish44 · 04/10/2026 09:25

10 mins walk - but closest 6th form is over 15 miles away . Local kids all 2 hours a day commenting .

sashh · 04/10/2026 11:09

300 metres from one and 450 from another as the crow flies. There is a third about 1.5 miles away.

SmallWhiteFluffyClouds · 04/10/2026 11:22

7 miles or a 1 hour 52 min walk according to Google Maps. The walk would be very unsafe though as along a 60mph road with no foothpath.

Summerunlover · 04/10/2026 11:27

a 30 minute I think

itsgettingweird · 04/10/2026 11:27

I’ve got 2. Each 1 mile away in opposite directions!

HollyIvie · 04/10/2026 11:33

20 mins walk.

SomersetBrie · 04/10/2026 11:35

Three within a 30 minutes walk (different directions!). We are only in the catchment for one of those (the worst one).

pumba11 · 04/10/2026 11:36

3.7 miles to the nearest state senior school but 2.5 miles to the nearest private one

AWomanOfWealthAndTaste · 04/10/2026 11:37

About half a mile.

Tryagain26 · 04/10/2026 11:37

10 minutes walk

StuNur85 · 04/10/2026 11:39

About 7 minute walk, our kids all went there. The primary is about 5 minutes.

Puhpuhpuhpuh · 04/10/2026 11:39

About a 15-minute walk.

Thatcannotberight · 06/10/2026 12:40

10 minutes walk , no 6th form now though. That will probably be a long bus journey away.

Justploddingonandon · 06/10/2026 12:45

0.5 miles but it's a religious school you have no chance of getting into if you're not that religion. The nearest after that, where most people from our street go, is just under a mile. Probably two or three others withing half an hours walk, including the one DS goes to, but we do live in London.

CMOTDibbler · 06/10/2026 12:50

1.5 miles. The next nearest are around 8 miles
