Not the one you want to send your child to, just the nearest one to your house?

2.5 miles. It's rural with no safe passage by foot so is eligible for free transport.

CBAwithallthethings · 03/10/2026 23:44

2 within a mile. Live in suburbs of a city

newrubylane · 03/10/2026 23:45

3 miles. But interestingly our catchment school is 12 miles away.

Simonjt · 03/10/2026 23:48

A two minute walk at most.

TheSmallAssassin · 03/10/2026 23:52

We have three about a mile away, 0.8 miles, 1 mile and 1.1 mile, apparently. They're all pretty decent too.

Moomieboo · 03/10/2026 23:56

17 minute drive away

Thislittlekitten · 04/10/2026 00:03

0.5 miles, 12 minute walk

Youlostyourlemons · 04/10/2026 00:59

1 mile or less. Mine go to the one 3 miles away instead.

Downdownupuproundround35 · 04/10/2026 01:11

According to Google its 0.42 miles away 😅

It is very very close, i could get there in about 10 minutes, my DD sets off to school 15 minutes before it starts and gets there on time ( and she goes to the shop everyday beforehand )

Whatisthat1 · 04/10/2026 03:27

About 1.5 miles away. Absolutely no chance DS will be going there or indeed to any of his catchment schools.

ForCraftyDuck · 04/10/2026 03:29

5 miles

Moceledo · 04/10/2026 05:04

As crow flies, it’s a mile. 1.9 miles to walk/drive.

TruffleSlinky · 04/10/2026 05:07

2.8 miles

KindlySurfiingPlatypus · 04/10/2026 05:15

0.8 miles as the crow flies, 1.1 miles by the most direct possible walking route (1.8 miles by the shortest legal motorised vehicle route due to one-way system, so actually quicker to walk)

The boundary fence at the bottom of our back garden is shared with nearest secondary school.
I worked there briefly and my DS went there too and it took us 3 minutes to walk around out the front door, out of our street into the street where school gates are. (We can't get out via the back garden).

Training for the pole vault Olympic Event before school might have come in handy?

OffTheMap · 04/10/2026 06:02

It was a 5 min walk.
Dc went to one a 10-15 min walk
And there was another 15-20 min walk.

Made life so easy.

YertleTheTurtle · 04/10/2026 06:17

15 minute walk (as opposed to any others which are a half hour drive). The closest one meant we needed a very good reason NOT to send our DC there.

AWeekAndADay · 04/10/2026 06:38

19.5 miles one way 19 miles the other, there's a school bus to both

herewegoagainonwednesday · 04/10/2026 06:42

1.5 miles, but no chance of getting in as its catholic. Means there are council financed busses from miles away to the catholic school, and other council financed busses going to the CoE school (no religious admissions criteria). massive waste of money.

RandomUsernameHere · 04/10/2026 06:44

Just under a mile.

Pipsquiggle · 04/10/2026 06:44

1.6 miles, though my DC go to one about 4 miles away

Just to add, i’m talking about 10 council financed busses in morning and the same in the evening everyday to cater to catholic vs CoR school….. insane if you know what coaches cost

@horseplay12
Why so rude?

MyGlassMenagerie · 04/10/2026 07:23

Private - 0.5 miles (10 min walk)
State - 1.7 miles (35 min walk)

We're in London too. It's not at all like that in this bit!
