................please re-think as it is so important to little ones!

This morning 4 children were upset that their parents hadn't turned up and had no one to cheer for them!

In the end I took it in turns to cheer for each one and they looked so happy!

At the end I gave ds a hug to say goodbye and his friend George started crying as he had no one to give him a hug!! So I hugged him too and the others I had been cheering for as well as they formed an orderly queue!

so please take a half day off work and go and see your child in the races!

i am dreading next year when ds1 will be in the "proper" races at one end of the field with Y1 and ds2 will be in the fun races at the other end with nursery and only me (and ds3 obv) rushing from one to the next!(DP can't get always get time off)

ACtually scrap that that will be easier than in 2012(ish) when i will have ds3 doing the nursery races, and ds1 and 2 elsewhere

Tip of the Day : when you have just spent the (very hot) morning at sports day cutting oranges please remember to wash your hands thoroughly when you come home and don't rub your eyes like I just did!

Tip of the Day 2: Pretend to DS that you saw his fab penalty against the PE teacher!

DS very happy as he was on red team and they came third. Out of 4! Bless - they call got a medal, as much orange as they could eat and a cake and a biscuit.

A lovely morning though and lots of parents there. Not all but lots more than usual.

I think DCs do like it if you are there but are pretty accepting if they know you can't be there. DH couldn't go but has promised to play football this evening with DS instead. So DS is happy.

chequers, maybe she is also directing at fathers, who are working but can't be bothered to take a day off. Like dh who would rather take a day off to stay at home, watching tv etc than seeing his children at sportsday.
Sorry to go on about him but still soo angry at him, for not turning up last week when he had NO real excuse.

My dd (7) is begging me not to come to sports day - she hates it. Last year it was cancelled due to rain and she was sooooo happy. Of course I will ignore her wishes and go anyway.
