New to Winchester / looking to meet local families with children starting Year R 2027
Hi everyone,
We’re moving to Winchester this summer (Aug) and will be completely new to the area. We have two boys (currently 3.5 and 2.5) and our eldest will be starting Year R in September 2027, with the likes of Westgate, St Bedes and Week as our top school choices.
We’d love to start building a little local community before then — both for the boys to make some friendships and for us as parents too, as our families are split between London and Dorset so we won’t have our usual support network nearby.
I wondered if there are any other families in a similar position (moving to Winchester, new to the area, or with children around the same age) who might fancy a coffee, park meet-up, or just sharing local tips?
Also would love recommendations for activities/clubs for boys aged 3–4, we’re thinking swimming, tennis, rugby tots, etc.
Any families with children likely to be starting Westgate/St Bede’s/Weeke next year would be lovely to hear from.
