Raised a PPA fairness issue- now everyone's ppa has been shortened and I feel conflicted

Looking for some perspective.
At my school, full-time teachers get either a longer morning PPA or a shorter afternoon PPA, with the morning block being around 40-45 minutes longer.
Recently, some colleagues had the longer morning PPA more than once, while I consistently had the shorter afternoon slot. Over a half term, that difference adds up.
I raised it politely with the head and suggested rotating PPA so it was fair. He agreed verbally, but nothing changed.
After I followed up again, a whole-staff message went out saying the morning PPA would be adjusted, effectively removing the extra time so both sessions are now equal.
I was then told I could have a morning PPA slot - but only after the time difference had been removed.
I understand the system is now "equal", but it doesn't sit right. I wasn't trying to take time away from anyone - I just wanted fairness. Instead, the outcome is less PPA for everyone, and the change seems to benefit cover arrangements more than classroom teachers.
I keep flipping between feeling justified for raising it and wishing I'd never said anything.
Has anyone else experienced something like this?
Just to add that - they now get the extra 30 mins themselves because they don't have to cover us until certain time in morning?

Be kind and polite to the supply teacher and you might find they'll cover you earlier if they get the chance.

It's a often awkward taking over at 9:30, so I usually offer to take the register and get started with the class in the morning.

The supply is probably using that time as their PPA rather than being paid separately for it.

We all get our PPA in the afternoon to stop any unfairness but also so core subjects are always taught by they class teacher. PPA cover is usually languages, RE, PSHCE etc which we have a scheme for.

Afternoons are great imo as you can leave at 13 and have the whole afternoon off. We are allowed to leave and work in our own time. Head is happy as long as the work is done.

We get to leave at 11.45!

Argh, mine should have said 12!

It's nice that every now and again I go for lunch with friends before picking the kids up. I usually try to get PPA on a day the kids have an activity after school do I don't have to collect until 4.15 😁

We switch PPA half way through the year. So the Am People become PM.

So you joined the school a few months ago and pretty swiftly complained about the lack of PPA fairness. The SLT then readjust the PPA down. Learn a big lesson… keep your cards very close to your chest and your thoughts to yourself when new to a staff room.

Unfortunately, I agree with this, and with @Octavia64

Where schools are concerned you sometimes win battles, but never wars.

You pointed out the difference in length of ppa and it was adjusted accordingly by the person paid to make those decisions. When submitting your complaint, did you specify that you wanted both morning and afternoon to be lengthened?

What are the other teachers saying about your complaint and the action taken to remedy it - do they support you?
