Lichfield Cathedral School (private schools) accents?

Do private schools in Staffordshire tech Received Pronunciation ?

I don’t want our child to have a “street” style accent which is what most kids tend to do in London now and moving to Staffordshire I’m hoping they teach RP to keep it more neutral. Later on in life accents can sometimes matter or at least having a good vocabulary.

any experiences?

Thanks all

Our state-educated streetsmart London kids code switch constantly (Geordie grandad, Yorkshire grandma, German nana, privately educated parents). The pets, meanwhile, have always remained stubbornly RP.

No they don't. Ours have been to Lichfield and also Stafford Grammar and both of their accents are pretty much the same. Also have experience at a public school as well and that also hasn't affected their accent nor would we want it to have. As someone said maybe they codeswitch so I guess it may depend but I think people thankfully focus more on what you say than how you say it these days.

I used to know a teacher who came from up North to teach in a London school where most of the children spoke English as an additional language. You could always tell who was in her class, they all said bath and class with a short a!
