Please help, we only have a small budget for year 6 leaving party and gift. we have arranged a party but have gone blank on what gift we can purchase. It is for 30 children and we can afford £2 - £3 for each child. Do you think we can get anything for this amount We do not have PTA at our school.

At our school the organisers have requested each child to bring along a small wrapped gift, which will then go in a lucky dip.

I've no idea what to get, but at least it would solve your problem of what to get and you could spend the dosh on something else!

Last year one teacher took a class photo (a fun one-not like the formal school one)and bought cheap frames and gave them one each.

My son's class all got a Pencil case with pens/pencils /compass/Protractor/rubber etc. I thought it was very useful gift as they are always on the list of equipment needed for starting Senior School. They can be picked up very cheaply from Wilkinsons/Woolies etc.

My dd got a fab book with all class pictures/what I'll be doing in 15 years/ pics of the trip away and dressing up days etc. Fantastic - maybe you could do an in-house booklet. Also got a disc with photos (using video editor on windows)and music. Lovely mementos. The kids all loved it. Reminds me I said I'd organise this year's book....

Dd1 got a keyring with the school logo on. I thought it was a great idea what with her having lockers at high school. Shame her high school was the only one in the borough that used number combination lockers! I think the photo idea is great.

When mine left they got a dictionary, signed with good wishes from the staff.

something personalised - photos are great.

for my class i often make a personalised bookmark - dead cheap and simple. word art their name down the ways. Type on a wee message 'XXXX Primary School 2008' or more personalised if you like, laminate and tie a wee ribbon through the bottom.

A couple of years ago I made a wee A4 poster for each child which was a photo montage of them during that school year. print it in colour and laminate. It had Word art writing - their name, the year and the school name and i used photos i had taken in class and on class trips through the year. it was quite time consuming, but so worth it - they were delighted with it and i got lots of letters from parents thanking me.

less time consuming is a class photo and buy a cheap frame for it - they will keep it forever!

At my DCs school, they give a disposable camera which the kids then run around with taking photos of all their friends and staff.
