Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone could help me pick a school in Weybridge? Is Manby Lodge or St James C of E a better school? We have a place at both. I don’t know which to go for.

Manby Lodge is an infant school and it feeds into Cleves which gets stronger results than St James', Cleves is a larger setting though. Personally I'd go for Manby and then Cleves for junior school but it does depend on your child and what type of school would fit them best.

It will depend on your child.. you must have a gut feeling? St James is an all through lovely small primary. Cleves (where you’ll head after manby lodge) is much bigger & imo the kids grow up quicker there…excellent ofsted but not sure how recently they have been inspected. St James is awaiting an ofsted outcome as we speak. Where do you live? Think about the morning commute- roads by both a nightmare if you need to drive! I found manby to be lacking but it was a few years back when I looked at it.

Thanks for replying. I’m really struggling to decide. My son is very able but struggles with separation anxiety so I am worried about him settling in. Once he is comfortable he is fine. I am hoping he will be sporty and I hear Cleves are better at that. But we are moving to Addlestone in a few weeks and I’m worried my daughter won’t get a place at Manby because my son will of left by then but she will get a place at St james if he is still there.

You’re hoping he’ll be sporty.. he may not be! Both manby & st James are small & nurturing so hopefully he’ll settle fine at either. You also might find living in addlestone prevents you securing a place at cleves.. I’m not sure how feeder sch v catchment works there though?? Look into that for sure if you haven’t already.

Yes, hoping he is because there are so many benefits from being sporty but happy if he isn’t of course. That’s a good point about catchment for Cleves. Thanks

If you are moving to Addlestone, you will be unlikely to get a place at Cleves. I have heard positive things about Manby and St James.

All children in a feeder school got a place at Cleves for the past three years, so looks like you would get a place at Cleves if that is what you wanted.
Might be easier to have them both in the same school though. Good luck with your decision!
