4+ Assessments 2025

Main thread for 2025 applications. Can’t find the previous thread for 2025 but from memory it has a typo in the title. I’ve only made this one to make sure everyone finds it easily!

Advice from previous assessments gladly taken. This is our first time applying. It’s a little early still so why don’t we start with where everyone is applying?

We’re looking at The Hall, Alleyn’s, Habs, Highgate UCS, and Manor Lodge. Have looked at some prep from previous threads and starting to think we’re seriously under-prepared…

Wonder if that’s a good or bad thing? Last year I knew quite a few people who didn’t pass Habs girls or boys first round whereas this year everyone I know that’s applied has been called back.

guess they will be spoilt for choice but all we can do is hope for the best and be grateful for second opportunity

KnackeredBunny · 07/01/2026 18:49

Maybe they’ve had the same issue as Highgate? Fewer applicants ? We’re grateful to be included regardless

Does anyone actually know the exact number that were invited back for round 2 Habs boys?

Sn0wflakes · 09/01/2026 18:15

Has anyone heard back from NLCS 4+ regarding second round yet?

MumInlondon16 · 09/01/2026 18:33

@Sn0wflakes Nothing yet. I think they will email after 13th Jan

Sn0wflakes · 09/01/2026 18:42

Thanks @MumInlondon16. NLCS second round starts on 15th, they’ll not be leaving much time for people to arrange/take kids to it…! 😬

MumInlondon16 · 09/01/2026 18:44

I am also desperate to know the results 🙂Let me know if you hear anything from NLCS

Sn0wflakes · 09/01/2026 21:16

Will do. Please update as well. Thanks

Hello. Just heard back on 2nd round interviews for NLCS, scheduled for this Thurs.

lilproblem · 12/01/2026 11:38

@Justadad28@Sn0wflakes@MumInlondon16did you also do Habs girls

Sn0wflakes · 12/01/2026 13:46

@Justadad28 - amazing news! We’ve also made it to second round on Thursday, but Habs is same day, so now have to figure out which to move as both have said they won’t be able to change!! 🙈

DS had his Highgate assessment today, all our assessments so far have been very academic. Quite confused about this one! Seems like he just played. How on earth do they make a decision?

From what I've heard, the Highgate first round is more 'academic' than the second. The second round is more of how well they play together, listen, engage, how curious/resilient they are etc... I've heard it is more of a 'fit' assessment. But I have no idea! All hearsay

GloMum · 13/01/2026 16:59

Does anyone know how many kids go to R2 at NLCS?

I thought it was the opposite! And they say so in the email, that this second round is more rigorous but we didn’t experience that at all…

Usually 100ish, but sometimes more if the calibre is very high.

angpat · 14/01/2026 12:19

Has anyone had habs boys round 2 yet? My son said he just played with cars most of the time ?! and there were no numbers or phonics. I thought the whole point of the second round was to test their academic ability has this changed ?

Jamie3 · 14/01/2026 12:20

We haven’t had ours yet but someone told me last year it was 1hour 1:1 and this year it’s 1hr 30 mins and not clear if 1:1. Not sure if the process has changed?

angpat · 14/01/2026 12:30

it was one hour !

lilproblem · 14/01/2026 14:19

Has anyone had Habs girls yet?

@angpatdon’t think it matters it was play based tbh. They would have been assessing him throughout, even if softer skills like communication.

ydk · 16/01/2026 09:17

We had Habs girls 2nd round on Wednesday. Some puzzles and games apparently but it was much shorter than expected like 35minutes maybe 40 minutes at a push. Has anyone else experienced this?

getsetdad · 20/01/2026 11:33

Does anyone know roughly what time the results come out for Highgate, UCS and The Hall? Does anyone know what day UCS comes out as not clear in email . How about st Anthony’s?

DadsnBoys · 22/01/2026 11:38

Highgate releases result on Jan 23, aka tomorrow
The hall releases result on Jan 26, aka next Monday - i believe most North London schools release around Jan 26, including Hereward House

Not sure about St. Anthony
